Description
Introduction
Trustiva Tablet contains emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, two antiretroviral medicines used in HIV treatment. They help reduce HIV replication and lower the viral load when taken as part of an appropriate treatment plan.
Trustiva does not cure HIV or completely prevent transmission. Take it regularly as prescribed and follow your healthcare provider’s advice.
Uses
- HIV-1 infection: Helps control HIV by reducing viral multiplication and supporting immune function.
- HIV prevention (PrEP): May be prescribed for eligible individuals at risk of HIV, according to medical guidance.
How Trustiva Tablet Works
Emtricitabine and tenofovir interfere with HIV reverse transcriptase, an enzyme required for viral replication. This helps prevent HIV from making new copies of itself and reduces the amount of virus in the body.
Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor about all medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements you use. Particular caution may be required with medicines such as rifampicin, anticonvulsants, St John’s Wort, and certain HIV medicines, as interactions can affect treatment effectiveness or increase side effects.
Precautions
Do not take Trustiva if you have a serious allergy to its ingredients. Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease or any other significant medical condition. Your doctor may monitor kidney function during treatment.
How to Take Trustiva Tablet
Take Trustiva exactly as prescribed, with or without food. Swallow it with water and take it at the same time each day. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.
